DSLCC EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
IT IS NECESSARY TO FILL OUT ONLY ONE APPLICATION. THE SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE WILL SCREEN AND MATCH QUALIFICATIONS TO SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA.
CAPERTON BOOK SCHOLARSHIP FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS--established by Bill and Nancy Caperton of Covington, VA, who appreciate the College’s mission to enrich the lives of area residents. The scholarship assists with book expenses. In addition to the above requirements, the successful applicant must be a resident of Alleghany County or the City of Covington and eligible for in-state tuition; have completed at DSLCC at least 25% of the credits required for the certificate or associate degree program in which enrolled; have a DSLCC cumulative GPA of 2.25
ELIZABETH COOK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS—established through a gift from Lillian Braun of Harrisonburg in memory of her sister Elizabeth Cook, a long-time resident of the Alleghany Highlands.
FIRST CITIZENS BANK ENTREPENEURIAL SCHOLARSHIP--Established by First Citizens Bank, this scholarship provides tuition and or book assistance to persons seeking to start a new business or are already engaged in a business and are seeking small business/entrepreneurial training.
BUBBLES, BANDS & BRUNCH SCHOLARSHIP FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS—established by the DSLCC Educational Foundation and funded through proceeds from the Foundation’s fundraiser, “Bubbles, Bands, & Brunch.”
CAROLYN B. NETTLETON SCHOLARSHIP FOR BUSINESS--Established by a gift from the Nettleton Foundation, this scholarship provides assistance to students enrolled in a transfer, associate degree or certificate business program at DSLCC.
KAY REYNOLDS RAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS—established by family and friends in memory of Kay, a life-long resident of Alleghany County and former DSLCC student. In addition to the above requirements, the successful applicant must be a resident of Alleghany County or the City of Covington and eligible for in-state tuition.
REGIONAL LITERACY/ADULT LEARNER SCHOLARSHIPS--Funded by the Regional Literacy Coordinating Committee, the purpose of these scholarships is to encourage adult learners to pursue higher educational opportunities. Qualified applicants must be able to prove that they hold a GED credential or an adult high school diploma. special consideration will be given to adults who attended a local adult education or literacy program.
VAUGHN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS—established by the Stephen Vaughn family of Eagle Rock. Preference is given to Botetourt County residents.
