Merit Scholarship Applications

Standard Application for Graduating High School Seniors or Home Schooled Students

— For graduating high school or home schooled seniors enrolled at DSLCC working toward one of the following:  transfer, associate degree, certificate. 

Standard Application for DSLCC Nursing Students--for students enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of the DSLCC nursing program.

Standard Application for Continuing Students--Must have completed at least one full year of study at DSLCC (min. 24/max. 45 credit hours) and are returning to DSLCC to complete an associates degree or a program leading to employment. Includes Bubbles, Bands & Brunch Scholarships; Carter Scholarship; Elizabeth Cook Scholarship, Carolyn B. Nettleton Scholarship for Business

Standard Application for Non-Traditional Students--For adult students who chose not to pursue post-secondary education immediately upon graduation from high school but now need to enroll to gain marketable job skills, facilitate their career advancement or successfully change career paths. Includes Caperton Book Scholarship; Elizabeth Cook Memorial Scholarship; First Citizens Bank Small Business/Entrepreneurial Scholarship; Carolyn B. Nettleton Scholarships for Business; News-Gazette Scholarship; Kay Reynolds Ray Memorial Scholarship; Linda Rose Memorial Scholarship; Municipal Employees Scholarship; Vaughn Family Scholarship

Need-Based Scholarship Applications

Josh Patterson Forestry Book Scholarship — must be enrolled in the DSLCC Forest Management Technology Program

Curtis A. Smith, VFW Post 1033 Scholarship — Covington’s VFW Post 1033 established this scholarship to assist qualified and deserving graduating
seniors from Covington and Alleghany High Schools who make DSLCC their college of choice. A scholarship may be awarded each year to a student from each high school or on a rotation basis (CHS one year and AHS the next). The DSLCC Educational Foundation reserves the right to not award a scholarship in any given year.

Jesse A. Wright Memorial Scholarship — The Jesse A. Wright Memorial Scholarship is a need-based scholarship established by his family for the purpose of providing graduates of Alleghany or Covington High Schools with tuition assistance at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

Other Scholarship Applications

Bridging the Gap--College to the Community--Internship Scholarship-- Enables currently enrolled DSLCC students to receive financial assistance for an internships that provides hands-on learning opportunities. Must have successfully completed at DSLCC at least 50% of program requirements and two semesters in major.

Virginia Firefighters Foundation Scholarship — must be either a Virginia Firefighter or the dependent of a Virginia Firefighter.

Practical Nursing Scholarships--For students enrolled in the DSLCC Practical Nursing program

Stuart D. Thomas Scholarship for Massage Therapy--For students enrolled in the DSLCC Massage Therapy program. Must be a resident of Alleghany County or the City of Covington
